The CoroMill 490 is a new, state-of-the-art milling solution with a unique design based on a large axial rake angle together with a positive, sharp cutting edge. Precise cutter body and insert seat combined with a low-vibration machining process provide accurate 90° shoulders without steps.

Application:
The four-edged indexable inserts ensure a light cutting action. Thanks to the tool's ability to produce a smooth profile, the need for a finishing operation is significantly reduced. This also makes this cutter a good choice for machining with a large tool overhang.

Inclined Plunge Notes:
Linear inclined plunging is an effective and commonly used infeed principle used in the production of closed grooves/pockets/cavities and eliminates the need for a drill. Linear plunge cutting can be defined as simultaneous feed in the axial direction (Z) and in a radial direction (X or Y), i.e. it is two-axis plunge cutting.

Circular plunge cutting (also called spiral interpolation, orbital drilling, etc.) is a circular movement (X and Y) with simultaneous axial feed (Z) with a defined pitch and is also an alternative to drilling. Compared to linear plunge cutting (full slot milling), spiral plunge cutting is a much more uniform, smoother process due to the lower radial cutting depth. In addition, pure synchronous milling is possible and chip removal is better. Counterclockwise rotation makes synchronous milling possible.
