Drawn cup needle roller bearings with a closed end are needle roller bearings with a formed, thin-walled outer ring. Extremely low sectional height and high load carrying capacity are their key features. They are primarily used where the housing bores cannot be used for needle roller and cage assemblies and exceptionally space-saving and economical bearing arrangements are aimed for. They are press fit into the housing bore and firmly seated. This way, if shoulders or snap rings are not needed for axial localisation, the housing bores can be made simply and economically.
The outer ring made of hardened sheet steel and the cage-guided needle roller and cage assembly constitute a self-retaining unit.
